Philosophy of Newberry Academy
Newberry Academy believes that normal efforts must be surpassed in order
to physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually educate a student.
Textbooks are not the only source of knowledge; a complete education
draws from far more than pencil and paper. School experiences are
building blocks of a child's future. Therefore, Newberry Academy's
priorities are obvious. Newberry Academy intends to provide a safe
learning environment with quality teachers and a well-maintained campus,
so that each student has every opportunity to reach his or her
potential.
Newberry Academy is proud to be family-oriented.
Parents are a child's first teachers - a job lasting a lifetime. Parents
are encouraged to take an active role in their child's academics.
Parents are also encouraged to support many extra-curricular student
activities which promote healthy minds and bodies.
Newberry Academy is committed to its students.
From a child learning to write his name in preschool to mastering the
quadratic equation in Algebra. Newberry Academy intends to provide
quality school experiences, producing well-rounded individuals.
Newberry Academy, Inc. admits students of any
race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges,
programs and activities generally according or made available to
students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational
policies and other school administered programs,
Accreditation.
Newberry Academy is accredited by the South Carolina Independent
School Association (SCISA). SCISA is
a non-profit voluntary association of independent schools. Founded
originally on August 10, 1965, the State of South Carolina incorporated
SCISA as an exclusively educational organization with responsibilities
to establish accreditation standards, coordinate athletic and academic
competition, and raise funds for member organizations.
Admissions Requirements
Newberry Academy has specific admission
requirements designed to successfully place a student at the appropriate
learning level. Standardized tests scores and a transcript are required
from transferring students desiring consideration for admission. The 3K
- 5K classes fill quickly. The preschool's exemplary reputation compels
many parents to send in the forms not long after a child's birth;
therefore, pre-registration forms are available upon request.
Faculty and Staff
All faculty members of Newberry Academy meet the regulations set
forth by SCISA. These regulations require all teachers, in grades K-5
through twelve, to hold at least a bachelor's degree. The rate of
faculty retention at Newberry Academy is extremely high, providing
experience and quality teaching. |
