HISTORY

In 1966, Newberry Academy opened with sixty first through eighth graders in the old West End School building. A year later, one five-year-old class was added to begin the kindergarten and preschool program.

Newberry Academy built a new structure and moved to its present location in 1971. In 1972, the new kindergarten building was finished on the campus. A spacious gym and classroom building were added in the early eighties.

Newberry Academy graduated its first class of seniors in May 1988. The school had grown to approximately three hundred students in grades 3K through 12. In 1994, a new gym was built on campus and the existing gym was remodeled as classroom, laboratory and cafeteria space.
