American Education Week

The student body president welcomed our parents and grandparents to the special programs. Two fourth graders began the program.



The program was provide by the music department.

Lunch was served to all the students on Student Appreciation Day by the parents.

Cookbooks are available
The cookbooks are hardcover, 3 ring binder style with a custom cover and have over 700 recipes submitted by our Newberry Academy families. The cookbooks cost $16 each. These will make great gifts and keepsakes. If you would like to purchase one or more of these cookbooks, you may stop by the office or send a request with money in an envelope by your child to school.

New Lunch Room Floor, New Tile and New Playground Equipment!
New ceramic tile has been installed in the lunch room, thanks to a very generous $10,000 donation by an anonymous donor. "We really appreciate the generosity of the donor," said the Headmaster. "The new title will look clean and will be much easier to clean that what we have now." The lunch room will also be painted during spring break.
Also in the lunch room. Mr. Dawkins has to put wainscoting between the tables and the walls to assist in keeping the walls clean.
Thanks to funding by Parents Council, the bathrooms in the high school building will soon get new ceramic tile. Ceramic tile has already been installed in bathrooms in the Martha Derrick Building, the main building and the gym.
Playground equipment, which was recently donated to the school, will has been installed at the kindergarten.

Auction Raises Over $15,000
Second biggest total ever!
Who says shopping can't be profitable? The Newberry Academy Auction was a big success on January 28, raising $15,450 for the school, the second biggest total in the auction's 19-year history. Hundreds of people filled the Academy gym for a night of fun and competitive shopping and the big winner was the school. "We'd like to thank everybody that donated something to the auction, and everyone that came to the auction," said Academy Board President. "We had great support, and it made for a very successful and fun night."

Kindergarten's 100th Day Balloons Make it to Lexington!
To celebrate the 100th day of school, the five-year old kindergarten students recently let go balloons with their names and the school address attached. Two of the balloons have already been returned with one returned from Lexington and another from Swansea.
