Travis Gilliam

I have proudly served as Head of School at Newberry Academy for the past three years and am a graduate of the Academy, giving me a unique and personal connection to its mission, traditions, and community. That connection runs even deeper, as my wife, Karla, and our twins, Christian and Cassie, are also alumni, making Newberry Academy not just a place I serve, but a central part of my family’s story.

My journey at Newberry Academy spans multiple roles, including serving as a teacher, coach, and Athletic Director. These experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective on our students, programs, and community, and continue to shape my leadership today.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Newberry College and hold a Master’s Degree in Education from Liberty University, equipping me with both the academic foundation and practical insight needed to lead with purpose and vision.

I am passionate about supporting every child and believe in educating the whole student, academically, socially, and emotionally. My leadership focuses on building strong relationships, fostering a positive school culture, and ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.

I am deeply invested in the success of Newberry Academy and committed to creating an environment where students are challenged, inspired, and prepared for the future. My dedication to children, education, and community guides my work each day.
