Newberry Academy Art Program — Inspiring a Love of Art

At Newberry Academy, the art program is an important part of the school experience for students from 1st through 12th grade. The program encourages creativity, personal expression, and a lifelong appreciation for visual art through classroom instruction, hands-on projects, and opportunities to share student artwork in meaningful community and state-level exhibitions.
Each year the students are guided through a rich range of media and techniques—such as drawing, painting, mixed media, and other visual art forms—helping them build confidence and develop their unique artistic voices.
A highlight of the year is the Winter and Spring Art Shows held during the school’s Fine Arts Nights. These events bring together students, families, and teachers for celebrations of creativity and achievement. These art shows spotlight student growth and create a supportive environment where children learn to take pride in their work and appreciate the artistic expressions of others.
Newberry Academy students also have the opportunity to participate in the statewide SCISA Art Show. This competitive showcase allows students to experience the excitement of representing their school in a larger artistic community. Participation in the SCISA Art Show reinforces the value of hard work, creative risk-taking, and artistic excellence.
Whether a child is discovering basic shapes and colors in early grades or refining more complex pieces in high school, the art program at Newberry Academy offers a supportive, encouraging environment where every student can grow as an artist and enjoy the lifelong rewards of creative expression.
