Beta Club

National Beta has been impacting schools and communities since its founding in 1934 by recognizing students for academic achievement, strong character, leadership, and service. What began with just 15 students at Landrum High School in Landrum, South Carolina, has grown into an international organization serving more than 500,000 students annually, remaining true to the vision and values set forth by Dr. Harris. As the largest independent, nonprofit educational youth organization in America, National Beta is dedicated to leading by serving others through its four pillars: achievement, character, leadership, and service.
Newberry Academy proudly supports this mission through Junior Beta (grades 6–8) and Senior Beta (grades 9–12), offering students meaningful opportunities to grow as scholars, leaders, and servants within their school and community. Looking ahead, Newberry Academy hopes to expand its Beta presence by establishing an Elementary Beta program for students in grades 4–5, further nurturing these core values at an even earlier age.
