Scott Gardner

Coach Scott Gardner has been a dedicated member of Newberry Academy for thirty-one years. A graduate of Newberry College, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a minor in History.

He is married to Christie Gardner, a Newberry Academy alumna from the Class of 1994. Together, they have two children, Payton and Austin, who are also Newberry Academy alumni from the Classes of 2021 and 2022.

At Newberry Academy, Coach Gardner teaches Government/Economics, Personal Finance, and Physical Education. Throughout his career, he has taught all grade levels, from kindergarten through 12th grade. He currently coaches boys’ basketball at both the middle school and high school levels, where he has achieved over 500 career varsity wins, won three state championships, and finished as state runner-up five times.

In addition to these roles, he serves as Athletic Director, contributing greatly to the broader school community.
