Deedee started teaching at Newberry Academy in 2000 after subbing for several years. She has always taught 3K and loves their excitement for learning. With her 3K class, she enjoys reading, singing songs, and encouraging them as they try to figure out how things work.

Deedee grew up in a military family, but she was raised primarily in Newberry and graduated from Newberry High School. She is married to the late Keith Bartley for 40+ years. She has two children who both attended and graduated from Newberry Academy. Ashton graduated in 2007 and went on to attend the College of Charleston where she earned a BS in Chemistry. She then furthered her education at the University of Florida and defended her thesis and earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry. She is now an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at Lander University. Austin graduated from Newberry Academy in 2012. He then attended Clemson University and earned a BS in Biosystems Engineering. Austin is currently a water systems engineer with Arcadis in Greensboro.

Deedee loves the family environment of Newberry Academy and has even taught her two grandsons. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, decorating, the beach, and spending time with family.
