Munson Summer

My name is Munson Summer, and I am excited to be teaching Music at Newberry Academy.  My primary goal is to foster a genuine love of music and a lasting joy in music-making among my students.

I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of South Carolina, along with a Performance Certificate in Classical Guitar. Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of teaching and working with students and musicians through a variety of organizations, including YMCA Camp Greenville, Star Music, Musicians' Supply, Michael's Music, Newberry College, Lutheridge, and Munson Music.

My own musical journey began at NA under the guidance of Mrs. Bette Moseley, where I first studied trombone. I continued my musical development at Newberry High School with Miss Lorraine Paris and later performed with the Carolina Band under the direction of James Copenhaver at the University of South Carolina.

I am thrilled to come full circle by returning to Newberry Academy, where I now have the opportunity to inspire and support the next generation of musicians.
